Jugend am Werk – Work in progress

For 30 years now, the Graz painting workshop of Jugend am Werk Steiermark has been offering artists with disabilities who want to work on a daily basis the appropriate space in the form of a modern, well-equipped studio and artistic support as part of the “daily support and encouragement” service. For them, art is not a hobby or pastime, but intensive work. With this, they actively shape Styrian cultural life. For them, creating unique works of art means independence and recognition.

The aim of the team and the artists at the Malwerkstatt is to achieve their recognition in the cultural life of the city and the state as artists of equal standing. In addition to their own exhibitions and networking with the cultural scene, participation in art projects and cultural events such as the GIF – Grazer Impro Fest is of particular importance.

Participating artists of the Malwerkstatt Graz:

– Annemarie Adam, who has been working at the Malwerkstatt Graz for two years, is involved in theater and dance in addition to her artistic work. Her works of art convey movement, rhythm and a strong artistic expression.

– In his two years at the Malwerkstatt Graz, Moritz Barnard has already developed a serious painterly and artistic quality. His productivity and desire for further development suggest that he will one day be one of the country’s great painters.

– Thomas Klanner, the youngest talent at the Malwerkstatt Graz, deals with the complexity of world events and the ‘big questions’ in an unusual way. In his artistic work, he exemplifies a person for whom it is important to understand what makes up the world by constantly inventing technical and pictorial approaches to the topics.

– Sabine Thaller has been developing her artistic work at the painting workshop for ten years now. Her pictorial studies on a wide variety of themes constantly deliver new artistic discoveries that are in tune with the aesthetic pulse of the times and touch the public with their emotional depth.

The 3 days of painting will be accompained and the exhibition at Friday August 29. will be curated by René Corvaia-Koch.
