Jugend am Werk – Results of the week

Malwerkstatt Graz / Jugend am Werk Steiermark

The Malwerkstatt Graz of Jugend am Werk Styria has, for over 30 years, provided artists with disabilities who wish to work on a daily basis with the space and support they need. Within the framework of the program “Day Support and Encouragement,” they are offered a fully equipped modern studio as well as artistic guidance. For them, art is not a hobby or pastime, but intensive work—work through which they actively shape the cultural life of Styria. Creating unique artworks means independence and recognition. The goal of the Malwerkstatt team and its artists is to achieve recognition within the cultural life of the city and the region as equal members of the artistic community.

Poolside Privilege

Video installation/Videoinstallation

2025

Casual but deep. Who’s lounging poolside, who’s going under?
Art-making between existence and exclusion, Franz Kline aesthetics and influencer chic.
A video installation about surface, access, and the right to visibility.
Stylish, wet, and not entirely in agreement.

/Lässig und tief. Wer liegt am Beckenrand, wer säuft ab?
Kunstmachen zwischen Existenz und Exklusion, Franz-Kline-Optik und Influencer-Chic.
Eine Videoinstallation über Oberfläche, Zugang und das Recht auf Sichtbarkeit.
Stilvoll, nass, nicht ganz einverstanden.
